Activities and Focus

Library:

Despite the fact that some libraries are run by institutions they are unable to cater to various groups of readers. Library is not viewed as an integral part of education system. Few libraries could be seen in some renowned schools and colleges. Even then, they are not well-equipped and not children centered. Handful of public libraries is present in Kathmandu. Taking library as an equitable action to education, Prachesta is working to set up child friendly libraries in the community schools. The project incorporates other aspects such as teacher-training, library management training, leadership and creativity workshops to encourage strengthen interpersonal skills and creative thinking in children aged 5-19. Realizing the need to establish a reading culture, different workshops and competitions will be part of the Library. Libraries will further develop into an extensive research on education in community and government schools of Nepal.

We’ve also supported some community school libraries with books collected. Generally we support books to community library or community/government school libraries. If you have a request you can contact us.

Fund raising:

Fundraising will be part of survival, expansion, awareness and development to Prachesta. Small events and Project proposals both are equally important to us. Promoting the values of “learning by doing” and “bigger things starts small” Fund raising events will not just be about collecting money but awareness of the programme or project.
